Oyegun meets other APC NWC members over May 29 handover today

APC-chairAll Progressives Congress (APC) officials are meeting today on how to achieve a smooth transition on May 29.
The APC, whose candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari was elected as the next president is now faced with the task of putting a government in place by May 29.
The formation of the next government by the APC as it appears is being treated with utmost confidentiality and caution to avoid any possible fallout that may affect the cohesion which the party enjoys especially after victory in the presidential and governorship elections which saw the party winning in states like Benue, Plateau, Kebbi, Kaduna and others where the PDP previously controlled.
Daily Trust findings revealed that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) will meet today to discuss the election victory and the setbacks suffered by the party in some areas especially in the South South where the election was according to allegations marred by massive rigging and violence against its members.
A member of the NWC who spoke to Daily Trust on telephone yesterday said they will meet to review what happened prior and after the elections and advise on the way forward.
He informed that the issue of forming a formidable team that will work with the president elect within the transition period.
The NWC had a week earlier held another meeting which borders on issues regarding the governorship elections while it avoided discussing anything regarding zoning of appointments by the party.
Another member of the NWC who attended the earlier meeting confided in Daily Trust that the issue may be discussed in today’s meeting.
However, our reporter observed yesterday that a strategic meeting was held between the national chairman and some national officers in his office.
Those in attendance at the meeting included; the national chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun, deputy national chairman South, Engineer Segun Oni and the deputy national chairman, North, Senator Lawal Shuaibu.
Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, sources at the party’s secretariat said that, the party was trying to put some finishing touches on proposals being made about the sharing of positions in the APC government.
